As per our folks at Pocket-lint, they have spotted a Sony 5G prototype device at both Sony and Qualcomm booths. It was unlikely to obtain the full reports about the smartphone by just searching at it as the device was encased. Later talking to Adam Marsch, Sony’s global communications team, our source arrived to know that it is not a commercial but a testing smartphone. While, they even established that the real models would differ from the existing prototype. Now, multiple products with minor hardware changes are likely through different tests. The actual purpose of minor hardware changes is to“trying to understand [what would happen] if you take an antenna away from a certain place and make it thinner”.

The prototype models are running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. It is even likely that the company would have coupled Sd 855 with the X50 5G modem. The panel measurements were not in the world, but it showed 21:9 aspect ratio. Sony has labelled the fresh gadget as “AG-1” internally as told by Adam Marsh. It uses 5mm wave for the 5G transmission together with sub 6 spectrum support.

Speaking further more, Adam said that Sony is working on 5G technology but don’t have goals for any commercial smartphone release yet. It might come with a 5G product in the near future. The similar time frame is yet unknown, although, it has been made crystal clear that Sony is working on fresh 5G technology.

It has been guessed that Sony could arrive with a commercial 5G cameraphone at IFA 2019 in September. It may be an additional variant of recently introduced Sony Xperia 1 which runs Snapdragon 855.
